“Venezuela is on its feet, it has a country project, a very clear plan: the Plan de la Patria (Homeland Plan) 2025-2031. (It is) Victorious and in the best conditions to come out well from any scenario that is presented to us,” said the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, before the change of government in the United States.
When asked about what the change of government in the United States means for Venezuela, the Head of State responded: “it represents an opportunity to open the doors to a new type of win-win relationship.”
The Venezuelan President hopes for what President Trump offered: that there be peace, that there be no more war and that all matters be resolved through diplomacy and peace. However, he clarified that, as the great liberators of America said, “You cannot expect just to be respected, each one must make to be respected.”
“The peoples of the Americas cannot expect anything from anyone, we have to build our own economic policy; that way they will respect us,” he concluded.
