The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) issued a statement on Saturday rejecting the new sanctions «imposed by the ill-fated imperial brotherhood, today represented by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the Department of the Treasury of the United States of America, together with the European Union and the United Kingdom; attacking on this occasion eleven officials of the Venezuelan State, including our Commander in Chief, the Minister of People’s Power for Defense, and members of the Superior General Staff.»
In the letter, the FANB points out that «this desperate action, outside of any norm of international law, has been consummated just on the day that citizen Nicolás Maduro Moros, Constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, reelected for the period 2025-2031, takes the oath and legitimate possession of his new mandate.»
«In the face of the overwhelming democratic demonstration and exercise of sovereignty of the glorious Venezuelan people, their enemies attack them fiercely, trying as always, to overshadow the relevance of this transcendent act of presidential investiture. This disgraceful measure seeks to disqualify the existing leadership in the military organization, which has remained unscathed for more than two decades of diffuse war against Venezuela; but these crude maneuvers, far from discouraging the men and women in uniform, strengthen their convictions of dignity, honor and self-determination, rekindling in them the unbreakable fight for the freedom, sovereignty and independence of their homeland.»
It is also pointed out that «this new onslaught of cries in the darkness of the imperial puppets is part of the neo-fascist and coup plans that the Venezuelan extreme right wing has been carrying out to alter the peace and stability of the country, seeking through extortionate and irrational sanctions, to submit us and bend us to foreign interests.»
«Faced with this, faithful to our popular, anti-colonialist, anti-oligarchic and anti-imperialist character, and in perfect popular military-police fusion, we ratify the determination to obey the popular mandate expressed on July 28, 2024; while reiterating unwavering support for the Bolivarian Revolution. Our most sincere solidarity goes to all public servants, and especially to those who are today victims of imperial arrogance. No sanction will violate the dignity of the sons and daughters of the United Liberation Army!» it details.
