The executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, emphasized that the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, in compliance with the law, presented an electoral dispute to the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) in response to the call for disowning the electoral results and for violence, made by Edmundo González and María Corina Machado.
From the Casa Amarilla Antonio José de Sucre (Seat of the Venezjuelan Chancellory), in Caracas, during a meeting with the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, she affirmed that the National President presented an electoral dispute to the TSJ to clarify the situation generated by the massive cyber attack, to preserve the constitutional order of Venezuela and safeguard the peace and tranquility of the Venezuelan people.
In this regard, Rodriguez read two fundamental articles in the Constitution that support the appeal filed before the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, such as article 297, which states that the electoral contentious jurisdiction will be exercised by the Electoral Chamber of the TSJ and the other courts determined by law:
“It must be clarified that these fraudulent minutes are not the official mechanism of the Venezuelan Electoral Power,” she said, referring to what was published by the extremist right wing on a website.
He also maintained that President Maduro relied on article 333, which establishes that the Constitution will not lose its validity “if it ceases to be observed by an act of force or because it is repealed by any other means provided for in it, so that every citizen, whether invested or not, will have the duty to collaborate in the restoration of its effective validity. He recalled that only the candidate of the extreme right wing (not only) said that would not recognize the results, (but also) in addition would be publishing their own minutes:
“He did not recognize the CNE and did not appeared before the TSJ.” The vice president stressed that the candidates who have appeared before the Electoral Chamber of the TSJ so far have stated that they do not have records:
“The publication of records by the extreme right wing is a fraud that has been expanded by the transnational media companies and governments allied to the United States that led this coup d’état,” added Rodríguez.
