President Maduro announces economic measures to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced on Tuesday a series of financial measures aimed at supporting broad sectors of the population and mitigating the impact of the second wave of Covid-19 and its Brazilian P1 and P2 variants in the country.

During the presentation of the balance of the Educational Missions, offered from Miraflores Palace, the National President detailed a series of actions in support of the population to face the pandemic, including the payment of the solidarity support bonus to the workers of private enterprises; the bonus for self-employed workers and a special bonus for radical quarantine, the first half of which was deposited this Tuesday, the latter destined for 9 million card holders within the Patria System.

“The 9 million card holders are fully guaranteed a special bonus for the month of April to face this second wave of coronavirus,” he said.

Labor Immovility until December 2022

In the same way, the head of the national Executive signed the decree by means of which the extension of the labor immobility is approved until December 31, 2022, for the protection of the working class, as well as the extension, until September 2021, of the prohibition of executing credit guarantees, the prohibition of reclassifying credit risk and the prohibition of forced eviction, actions to protect the family and the merchants.

“The decree will be published in the Official Gazette tomorrow, Wednesday, April 7, to extend until September this year the prohibition of executing loan guarantees, that is, no one can have their guarantees taken,” he said.

He emphasized that the express and absolute prohibition of forced evictions was ratified, to protect families, entrepreneurs and small businesses throughout the national territory.

In order to stimulate the industrial sectors, he instructed that the country’s productive portfolio be directed mainly to the agro-industrial sector to guarantee food for the people.

Among the announcements of the day, he referred to the exemption from the payment of fees in SAREN and commercial register to new ventures in the small and micro-business sector.

In terms of public services, he pointed out that people registered in the Patria system who have registered the payment of water and electricity services, will have a 25% discount on the rates for April and May.

He said the head of state that these measures are to “protect economic social actors, workers, workers, businessmen and businesswomen.”

New high school mentions:

The head of state also announced the creation of new mentions in diversified education, with the baccalaureate specialties in Water Management, Health Management, Environmental and Forest Management, as well as the new honors in Fisheries and Aquaculture.

New 7 + 7 modality:

Regarding the 7 + 7 scheme, he informed that next Monday, April 12, it will be resumed with the restart of labor and economic flexibility but “in a new modality”, on which he will offer details in the coming days, although he announced that during the itself “we will be attentive to the special care of citizens in places of activity.”

He pointed out that whenever necessary, quarantines will be resumed for the protection of Venezuelans against any potential re-outbreak of infections, and recalled that this last period of radical quarantine was extended for 21 days “to contain this third wave that has arrived with the P1 and P2 variants from Brazil”.

“I am obliged to make decisions that protect the Venezuelan family, the health of the worker, the worker, the father, the mother, and the Venezuelan youth,” concluded President Maduro.
