Head of State approves expansion of the Gaita through the Great Mission Viva Venezuela

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, approved the expansion of knowledge about the Zulian Gaita(*) for all boys, girls and adolescents in the country, during the broadcast of the “Con Maduro+” program on the road, he announced that the project will be worked on hand in hand with the Great Mission Viva Venezuela mi Patria Querida.

The head of state, accompanied by deputy Cilia Flores, singers Omar Acedo, Omar Enrique and the musician and president of the Ricardo Aguirre Municipal Institute (Imgra), Endri Méndez, recalled the artistic career of the artists. For his part, Méndez explained that the institute trains more than 3,000 boys, girls and adolescents in the 18 parishes of that state.

Given this, President Maduro exalted: «Imagine the future, what 2030 looks like, within six years, that entire virtuous generation of gaiteros will put the Gaita of Zulia and Venezuela at the top of the world.»

 

 

(*): The Gaita is a musical genre, typical of Zulia state, which has historically represented part of the social and cultural heritage of that western state of the country. It’s music is unique in the country, and its lyrics typically reflect on social issues, as well as humor and poetry.
