President Nicolás Maduro appoints former Chancellor Félix Plasencia as Ambassador of Venezuela in Colombia

President Nicolás Maduro announced this Thursday the appointment of former Chancellor Félix Plasencia as the new ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Colombia.

“I want to announce that, former Chancellor, Félix Plasencia, who was ambassador to the People’s Republic of China and who is today president of the International Investment Center, I have appointed him as the next ambassador to the Republic of Colombia,” reported the Venezuelan Head of State. .

He announced that the Venezuelan Chancellory has already requested the approval of the new Colombian government led by President Gustavo Petro.

The Venezuelan Chancellory has requested the approval of the Colombian Foreign Ministry and will soon be in Bogotá,” he said.

Special high-level team develops work plan oriented towards relations with Colombia

In this context, the national president announced the formation of a special team to deal with the reactivation of relations with Colombia, an instance that will be headed by the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez.

He stated that this team is developing a detailed work plan for when the reopening of the common border between the two nations is announced:

“I have formed a special team on Colombia to work, a very serious plan, for the progressive scheduled opening of the entire border, the opening to trade, to investment,” he stressed.

It is worth remembering that on July 28, in a meeting held between the Venezuelan Chancellor, Carlos Farías, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs appointed by President Gustavo Petro, the gradual reopening of the border between the two nations was agreed.

During this meeting, both delegations discussed 14 specific issues, among which the strengthening of commercial and economic exchange in this new stage stands out.
