The president of the National Assembly (AN), deputy Jorge Rodríguez (PSUV/Capital District), reported that the Bolivarian Government is ready to form and install the Commission of Verification and Monitoring of the Barbados agreements. Thus he declared this Monday at a press conference from the Federal Legislative Palace.
The also plenipotentiary head of the Bolivarian Government Delegation for Dialogue with the opposition, said that on January 24 they received a communication from the Norwegian delegation that suggested the start and follow-up of the partial agreement on the promotion of political rights and electoral guarantees. for all, with the formation, in a peremptory manner, of the Monitoring and Verification Commission.
He indicated that the proposal was consulted with the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, “And the answer is that we want to make a new attempt to maintain and sustain the tenets of the Barbados political agreements,” he said.
He added that, despite all the attacks on the agreement, and despite the attempts to go beyond the constitutional channel, the National Government will make a new attempt to maintain the tenets of the agreement: “There is a compulsion to repeat things to get away from established agreements,” he stressed.
He also stressed that the Bolivarian Government delegation has a lot to teach the Verification and Monitoring Commission of the agreements signed in Barbados.
He read what the document establishes and stressed that it clearly expresses non-interference from outsiders. “Both parts of the delegation designed the mechanisms that establish the review of disqualifications,” and he said that the Barbados dialogue table does not replace the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ).
He warned the United States Government that they will not accept external interference of any kind: ”We reject any form of political violence against Venezuela, its State and its institutions. The parties will defend the promotion of public discourse and a political and social climate favorable to the development of a peaceful and participatory electoral process, without external interference,” he stated.
Confirmed presidential elections in 2024:
Regarding the electoral process, he asserted that come rain, shine or lightning, in Venezuela there will be presidential elections in 2024, despite the claims of the same black heralds, the same widows of the coup d’état, to call for violence.
He said that Antonio Ledezma exposed the militaries who conspired to carry out assassination plans, recently denounced. He reminded this character that Spanish and Venezuelan justice are looking for him.
He recalled that Ledezma said in 2017 that the elections to the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), convened within the framework of the rights provided by the Constitution, would not be held:
“People died, they burned voting machines, they burned electoral material, they threw stones at the officials of the National Electoral Council (CNE), and in an absolutely democratic and sovereign manner, the ANC election was held on July 30, 2017, which instantly ended the violence in eastern Caracas and other cities.”
The deputy reiterated that Venezuela will hold, in healthy peace, the 2024 presidential elections, with or without Ledezma: “Here it is established that on January 10, 2025, whoever wins the 2024 elections will take office as President of the Republic,” he pointed out.
He concluded by indicating that in the face of any violent attack against the country, “our response will be calm, reciprocal and peaceful.” He invited the people to review every letter of the Barbados agreements and invited the opposition to close the chapter on res judicata, regarding the disqualifications.
