Bolivarian Government promotes robotics workshops aimed at children and young people in the country

In order to educate children and young people in the technological practices of educational robotics, the Bolivarian Government promotes workshops in this area in the national territory through the ABAE (Bolivarian Agency for Space Activities), an entity attached to the Ministry of People’s Power for Science, Technology and Innovation.

Educational robotics is part of the “Semillero Científico” (Sciences seed bank) program, promoted by Infocentro together with ABAE. In the first phase, 100 nuclei were installed nationwide, which have enabled the training of 800 boys, girls and young people (between 8 and 17 years of age).

Similarly, is expected the installation of 3,000 robotics cores in schools and educational centers in the country.

These workshops seek to strengthen knowledge, cognitive development and logic in the application of science to life, as well as train children in the area and facilitators, as announced by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro during the 15th edition of the “Con Maduro+” program.

The first module of the workshop lasts three days. On the first day are dictated the introductory part and definitions of robotics; on the second day is taught the programming language, in order to encourage the creativity and logical thinking of the boy and girl, while on the third day is dictated everything related to assembly.

Each module serves 12 children and has a tool kit in which up to 10 types of robots can be assembled.

Robotics allows the study of four branches of technology, such as programming, electronics, mechanics and artificial intelligence, which seek to promote the design, construction and assembly of robots.
