President Maduro orders to reinforce border security to curb cattle smuggling

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, ordered this Wednesday to reinforce security on the border, in order to put an end to the smuggling of cattle into Colombia:

«I have ordered new strict measures, to the heads of REDI, ZODI of the entire border, due to cattle smuggling. They take them to Colombia. We want to export meat to Colombia but we are going to export it legally”, emphasized the Venezuelan head of state during a work journey at Miraflores Palace in Caracas.

We are going to export, but legally with all its phytosanitary permits, tariff permits, due tax payments, through legal channels and not for armed gangs from Colombia to come and steal the cattle of the Venezuelans”, added the National President.

This responds to a request made by the governor of Apure state, Eduardo Piñate, who warned that several producers have denounced this criminal practice:

An effort must first be made with cattle theft, which is a problem that affects both private producers and herds, state companies and government production units. We have to fight a very hard battle in relation to that, there is an instrument in the National Assembly in relation to that with the issue of cattle rustling that is under discussion at this time”. expressed the governor of the plains region.
