The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, expressed his support for the Strategic Operational Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Ceofanb), which deploys Operation Autana, to combat illegal mining in the national territory, in defense of sovereignty and the environment.
The information was released by the Head of State, through the publication of a video on the X (Twitter) social network @NicolasMaduro, in which he stated: «We are not going to allow illegal mining. We are going to free our lands!».
In the audiovisual was highlighted the deployment of the Autana military operation, which seeks to reach the top of the Yapacana National Park, in Amazonas state, located south of the country:
“In the millenary tepuy, which is located at 1350m above sea level, that blank space, where a turquoise lagoon can be seen, is the contamination of the mercury that they use to extract the gold, and it is one of the camps of illegal miners”, as refers the report by journalist Madeline García.
He pointed out that the special action groups of the FANB, and of the State security organizations, are climbing the mountain, since, according to intelligence information, the so-called Armed Terrorist Drug Traffickers of Colombia (Tancol) are located on the site.
The military actions are carried out in accordance with the 5th Historical Objective of the nation, for the salvation of the human species on the planet and of the natural environments that sustain life.
