President Maduro advocates reforestation and sanitation of the Amazon

In his official account of the X social network (former Twitter), the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, expressed the following: “With work, effort and a concrete plan, ready for action, let us advance together in reforestation, sanitation and recovery of the Amazon, for the well-being of our indigenous peoples. We are heading towards a new humanity. It is indeed possible!”.

Regarding the Amazon Summit, held in Belém, Federative Republic of Brazil, the head of state urged the countries that make up the Amazon to establish a joint plan of actions to clean up the South American plant lung.

During this meeting, which will last for two days, Venezuela will present a concrete action plan for the preservation of life and the rights of nature, according to the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, during her arrival at the Belém Air Base (BABE) in the State of Pará.

This appointment plans to establish actions that allow the consolidation of coordination instances, which manage to stop the collapse of the Amazon biome.

Upon her arrival, in statements to the media, she reiterated that “We have come with an action plan, which has been prepared by the hands of President Nicolás Maduro, and we will present it at the Summit so that there will be the announcements (…), with the voice of our president, the voice of Venezuela, and the Venezuelan people with a concrete action plan,” she said.

She maintained that Venezuela “goes forward with its agenda for the preservation of life, with its agenda for the preservation of the rights of nature.”

Also, the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Yván Gil, made an appearance at the summit, and through his account on the X social network (former Twitter), on which he stated that “With great expectations we arrived in the Brazilian city of Belém do Pará, where the Amazon Summit will be held, resuming cooperation to protect the plant lung of the planet”, as announced the Chancellor.

The Summit seeks for the the Amazonian countries (Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela), to consolidate a unified position on the preservation of the biome, to present it at the next world climate summit (COP28), in next November.

The summit, which will last until next Wednesday, will be the group’s fourth meeting. Such meetings are provided for in the Amazon Cooperation Treaty (OTCA), signed on July 3, 1978.
