Félix Plasencia appointed as ALBA Executive Secretary

During the commemoration of the 18th anniversary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), in Havana, Cuba, the Venezuelan diplomat Félix Plasencia was appointed as the new Secretary of ALBA- TCP, replacing the former Bolivian minister, Sacha Llorenti.

Felix Plasencia was former Chancellor of Venezuela and is the current Venezuelan Ambassador to Colombia.

The new Executive Secretary of ALBA has a degree in International Studies, graduated from the Central University of Venezuela and a Career Diplomatic Officer since 1991, with a master’s degree in European Studies from the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium, and a postgraduate degree in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Oxford, England.

He became Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela accredited to the People’s Republic of China until 2021 and then was appointed as Venezuelan Chancellor.

In August 2019, he was appointed head of the newly created Ministry of People’s Power for Tourism and Foreign Trade, which he assumed after being Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Issues.
