AN unanimously passes Special Law for Agricultural Workers

The Plenary of the National Assembly (AN) of Venezuela unanimously approved and passed, in a second discussion, the project of the Special Law for Agricultural Workers, which will serve as complementary legislation to the Organic Law of Labor and Workers, with the objective of regulating the relationship of those who participate in the production of food in the Venezuelan countryside:

It is unanimously approved, dear working men, dear working women of the agricultural sector, you have a complementary law to the organic labor law of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, to the fields of Venezuela, to your corresponding areas of action and work for to increase the protection of those who are, ultimately, those in charge of food and supplies for the Venezuelan people,” said the president of the AN, Jorge Rodríguez, after submitting to a vote the text of the new Law, which will be sent to the National Executive for its respective promulgation and entry into force.

The Parliamentarian noted that for the first time in the history of rentier oil production, Venezuela produces and supplies the vast majority of food consumed in the country, and for this, farm workers should be recognized and protected.
