Jorge Rodríguez: My father lives in the hearts of his fellow fighters

On the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the vile murder of Jorge Rodríguez Sr., the president of the National Assembly (AN), deputy Jorge Rodríguez (PSUV/Capital Department), said on Tuesday that the example of the revolutionary leader and martyr lives in the heart of his fellow fighters:

“The example of Jorge Rodríguez, which was raised by Commander Hugo Chávez, and which President Nicolás Maduro raises in his daily struggle, is to advance towards the future, it is an example so that there is no room for doubt, that there is no room left for sadness”, said the head of the AN in the General Cemetery of the South during the tribute to the martyr.

Rodríguez stressed that every July 25 the Venezuelan people pay tribute to his father, as well as in every day, every morning and every daily struggle. He explained that it is the immense memory of a martyr of the Venezuelan revolution, of a young man who was a delegate of the University Council of the Central University of Venezuela, who led, together with Jesús María Bianco, the struggles for university autonomy.

The parliamentarian stressed that his father was a brave Venezuelan, loyal to his ideas until the last moment. “He faced, with the brightness of his eyes, which he always had, the hyenas that were merciless against him on July 23, 24 and 25, 1976,” he said.

In his speech, during the tribute, the deputy said that his father was a man of a steely verb, who identified the surrender of the governments of the Fourth Republic and strongly denounced the violation of human rights, the murder, the disappearing of revolutionaries and torture, which was the daily practice of those governments.

He reiterated that the martyr Rodríguez was capable of denouncing the lackey and sell-out governments that had subjugated themselves to the designs of the North American empire. He maintained that his father must be remembered with joy, so that it is life, the future and the daughters, sons and grandchildren who continue to build the revolution, with the example of Jorge Rodríguez, Fabricio Ojeda, Livia Gouverneur, among others who offered their lives defending an idea for the construction of the future.

For her part, the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, pointed out that, despite the Punto Fijista (belonging to the Punto Fijo Pact) repression, Jorge Rodríguez’s family, friends and relatives have been paying tribute to the martyr for 47 years with a smile and a flower:

Our lives must be dedicated to the construction of equality, social justice, inclusion. May hate never prevail.” She pointed out that the exemplary action of Jorge Rodríguez Sr. leaves a clear message to those who raise the flags of fascism, intolerance and hatred.

She added that the path of Venezuelans must be to build their future with great hope, with great joy and the process of national independence.”

The vice president concluded by indicating that, 47 years after the planting of Jorge Rodríguez, the people can happily say that fascism will not pass.
