“Hebe de Bonafini expressed the struggles of the Argentinean people in a genuine way, she was a woman who achieved revolutionary values along the way. She was forged in the values of solidarity, courage and revolutionary firmness during the struggle”, said this Sunday the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro during his participation in a special interview granted to the Argentinean radio station “Somos Radio 530 AM”.
He recalled that Hebe de Bonafini expressed the struggles of the people that she always offered support in difficult moments: “She will always be with us giving us her truths, her criticisms and her advice from the heart”.
Likewise, he explained that Bonafini “crossed borders, she was loved, respected and admired in all parts of the world. For this reason, Venezuela deeply regrets the departure of the president of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo”.
The statements were given by the head of state in honor of the memory of Hebe de Bonafini who died this Sunday at the age of 93. She founded the Mother and Grandmother of Plaza de Mayo Association, after the disappearance of her two children during the dictatorship of Rafael Videla in Argentina.
Bonafini was a human rights defender and activist, which is why the president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, decreed three days of national mourning.
