President Maduro and Lula discussed the start of the second progressive wave in Latin America

This Monday the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and the president-elect of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio “Lula” Da Silva, held an affable telephone conversation after the victory of the leader of the Workers’ Party (PT) in this Sunday’s elections.

This was reported by Maduro with a message on Twitter: “I had a good telephone conversation with the President-elect of the Federative Republic of Brazil @LulaOficial, with whom we agreed to resume the Binational Cooperation Agenda between our countries. We thank his willingness!”

In his call, the Venezuelan head of state congratulated Lula for the epic that represents his victory, after being the object of maneuvers by the Brazilian right wing that used the Judiciary power to put an end to his political career.

He stated that this victory is the beginning of the normalization of relations and joint work between both countries at a time when it is necessary to think as a region, at the same time that it constitutes the beginning of the second progressive wave in Latin America.

Lula, who won the victory with 50.9% of the popular vote, took the opportunity to send a big hug to the people of Venezuela.

This Sunday night, heads of state from Latin America, Europe, North America and Asia, as well as intellectuals and politicians, congratulated the new Brazilian president.

Lula will take office as President of Brazil on January 1 for the 2023-2027 term.
