Comptroller of Venezuela participated in CELAC meeting of prevention and fight against corruption

The Comptroller General of Venezuela participated this Thursday in the first meeting of the Specialized Working Group on Prevention and Fight against Corruption of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), in order to promote a work plan aimed, among other things, to the strengthening of the ethics and integrity of the public service.

The Vice Comptroller General of the Republic, Jhosnel Peraza, led the Venezuelan delegation in the virtual meeting, which was led by the Pro Tempore President of this international body and head of the Argentinean Anti-Corruption Office, Félix Crous, according to a press release.

During his intervention, Crous explained that four thematic axes were addressed, among which he highlighted ethics and integrity in public service; business integrity and public-private partnerships; protection for denouncers of corruption and open government, as well as open data for the prevention and fight against corruption.

Given this situation, the representative of Venezuela raised among the fundamental issues, the inclusive economic recovery post Covid-19, in order to promote the sustainable economic recovery of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, post-pandemic, with an inclusive, cooperative and supportive perspective.

In addition, reference was made to the need to improve the coordination of the national capacities of the countries of the region and strengthen them to better face current and future health challenges, promoting a solidarity and cooperation approach among the countries that also allows consolidating the development and operation of the Latin American and Caribbean Space Agency (ALCE).
