The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, called for convening a summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), of maximum interest to the peoples of America, where Joe Biden will attend as a guest:

It will have to be CELAC, President Alberto Fernández, it will have to be the Community of Latin American States that convenes with an agenda of prioritized issues of maximum interest to our people. Where the 33 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean go, and President Joe Biden is invited”, he said.

In this sense, he asserted that it is necessary to create a new organization where all the American countries can participate, to avoid exclusive actions by the United States government.

He highlighted his admiration for the clarity and courage of the President of Mexico, Manuel Andrés López Obrador, for the firm decision not to participate in the Summit of the Americas, to be held in Los Angeles:

“We have expressed our admiration for the clarity and courage of President López Obrador and all the support for the message he has sent in recent weeks”, he stressed.
