«Whoever wins the presidency, we want peace and cooperation with Colombia,» said this Wednesday the head of state, Nicolás Maduro Moros, during a journey of evaluation of the Good Communal Government held in the Altos de Lídice sector, in the La Pastora parish of Caracas.
President Nicolás Maduro thus ratifies his willingness to cooperate and brotherhood with Colombia, regarding the results derived from the second round of elections between Gustavo Petro (of the Pacto Histórico -Historic Pact- party) and Rodolfo Hernández (of the League of Anti-Corruption Leaders), scheduled for June the 19th.
The first round of the presidential elections in Colombia, held last Sunday, May 29, placed candidates Gustavo Petro and Rodolfo Hernández, who reached 40, 32% (8,526,787 votes) and 28.15% (5,952,968 votes) respectively, in direct dispute for the House of Nariño.
Since the winning formula did not accumulate half plus one of the total valid votes, the second round between Petro and Hernández will take place on June 19, 2022, which will determine the president who will lead Colombia in the next four years (2022-2026).
