The president of the Judicial Nominations Committee, deputy Giuseppe Alessandrello, who presented the list of magistrates, as well as the heads of the General Inspectorate of Courts (IGT) and the National School of the Magistracy (ENM), indicated that the legal technical process was impeccable, transparent and public.

He highlighted that 20 days had elapsed since the President of the AN received the list from the Judicial Nominations Committee, in which arduous debates were held that carried out an in-depth evaluation to obtain this final result, as stressed Alessandrello.

On his behalf, the head of the Parliamentary Bloc of the Homeland, deputy Diosdado Cabello Rondón, congratulated the members of the Judicial Nominations Committee to whom he extended his acknowledgment for the 96 days of work carried out. He indicated that these appointments, in consensus with the opposition, are necessary for the country.

He recalled that the outgoing magistrates were appointed in 2015. He sent his thanks to them for having whitewashed the highest court in the country and for becoming a retaining wall during these years. He repudiated the former Supreme Court of Justice for deciding that there was no coup on April 11, 2002, but that it was an action by a group of soldiers “pregnant with good intentions”.

He asked the new TSJ to work for peace and justice: “This 2022 is the year of justice. It is the year of justice. It smells of justice in Venezuela. Anyone who understood, understood”, stressed deputy Cabello Rondón while pointing out that this same Tuesday the new magistrates begin to exercise their functions. He urged them to accompany the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, in the process of judicial revolution.

To conclude, took the floor the vice president of the committee, deputy José Gregorio Correa, who indicated that he was satisfied with the result of the new TSJ, for being a renewed institution, where there will be familiar and new faces: “This conjunction can be very useful for the justice system in Venezuela”, he said.

Swearing in:

At the swearing-in, the President of the AN, Deputy Rodríguez, reminded the new magistrates that their role is to preserve, as the most valuable asset, the human, civil, political, and economic rights of the Venezuelan people.
