The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced this Tuesday that the booster vaccine against covid-19 will begin to be applied every four months after the last dose, with the aim of stopping the spreading of the virus.
During his participation in the journey of balance of the national health system, held from Miraflores Palace, the Head of State explained that the COVID-19 Therapeutic Committee, after the corresponding monitoring and analysis, recommends the adoption of an application scheme of the booster vaccine every four months:
“It seems pertinent to me that, starting this week, we assume the booster vaccine after four months after the complete vaccine schedule. In Venezuela, the booster vaccine will begin to be applied every four months to guarantee the health of the Venezuelan people,” he pointed out.
In this context, the national president recognized the work carried out throughout the country to meet the goals of the national vaccination program.
In this regard, he explained that thanks to the vaccination plan, a total of 56% of children and young people, aged between 2 and 17 years of age, are fully vaccinated:
“We are heading to 100%. We are ready to vaccinate them. Get vaccinated that is the best to protect yourself from covid-19. I make a call to those children, youth, to get vaccinated”, said the Head of State.
He also reported that to date the vaccination rate exceeded 102% of the Venezuelan population:
“The Venezuelan population is fully vaccinated and we are going towards the reinforcement and we are advancing in the vaccination of our children, from two years of age and older”, he reiterated.
He thanked countries such as China, Russia and Cuba, which showed solidarity with Venezuela and who provided, even amidst the blockade that remains in place in the country as a result of the coercive and unilateral measures imposed by the United States, the necessary vaccines to advance compliance of these goals:
“Thanks to China, Russia, thanks to Cuba, the people of Venezuela have their complete vaccines and we have vaccines for all of 2022 and beyond,” he thanked.
