Venezuela registered advances in meeting the sustainable development goals of the 2030 agenda

Despite the difficulties that Venezuela has faced, the country registered important advances in meeting the 17 sustainable development goals of the 2030 agenda agreed in 2015, and achieved harmony with the national and strategic historical goals of the 2019- 2025 Homeland Plan.

This was expressed by the Minister of People’s Power for Labor, Eduardo Piñate, during his speech at the 10th Conference of Ministers of Labor of Ibero-America that takes place in Antigua, Guatemala, as reports the Ministry of People’s Power for the Social Work Process in its Twitter account, @MPPPSTVe.

He said that despite the multifactorial war and the financial blockade that the country faces since several years ago, the National Government maintains employment, and the unemployment rate is only 7%; in addition, a 60% of employment is formal, 21.6% is from the public sector and 78.4% is private.

He highlighted the important progress in the eighth objective aimed at promoting inclusive economic growth and emphasized the recognition of women’s and youth work, and their training for work.

The minister stressed that currently Venezuela has 100% of pensioned elder adults and “our pensions are equivalent to a minimum wage and are updated every time it increases”, a right that favors women over 55 and men after 60 years old, no matter if they have previously quoted within the pension system.

He assured that in the country has been placed the greatest interest so that the people know the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), mainly in young people and adults of working age, with the purpose of providing technical and scientific preparation for their insertion and contribution to the growth of the country.

He reported the incorporation of 1,100,000 young people to the labor field through the “Chamba Juvenil” (Youth Job) Mission.

The minister asserted that the Program for Economic Recovery, Growth and Prosperity announced by President Nicolás Maduro has strengthened the national currency; In addition, it increased the minimum salary and all the salary tables of the workers by 60 times, and the State has assumed the difference of the increase for 90 days.

He highlighted the joint work with the United Nations Development Program in the implementation of different schemes and cooperation to promote relations between Venezuela and the United Nations.

To do this, it strengthens human development in government institutions, social and community organizations at a local level.

He stressed the importance of open, inclusive, transparent, participatory social dialogue with clear agendas. He cited as an example the National Council of Productive Economy, composed of national and international businessmen.

Piñate highlighted the debates of the National Government with businessmen and workers to boost the productive economy as part of the Plan for Economic Recovery, Growth and Prosperity.

He mentioned that the National Constituent Assembly is another space for strategic dialogue in which all those interested in the positive transformation of the country participate.
