Congressman urges Biden to lift sanctions against Venezuela

US Congressman James McGovern, Democratic Representative from Massachusetts, wrote a letter to the President of the United States, Joe Biden, in which he urged him to lift the “sectoral or secondary sanctions” against Venezuela imposed by the Donald Trump administration.

The Venezuelan journalist, William Castillo, released the letter through his account on the Twitter social network @planwac and in an analysis detailed that it is the second time that a North American congressman has questioned the sanctions against our country.

McGovern in his letter acknowledges that the sanctions against Venezuela have not worked and assumed that far from affecting the government, those who suffer the cost of the measures are all Venezuelans.

In the letter, congressman McGovern even expresses to his president Biden that Pope Francis shares his point of view that the sanctions against Venezuela are wrong and immoral.

Following is the detailed analysis of the letter, carried out by the Vice Minister of Anti-Blockade Policies of the Ministry of the Popular Power of Economy, Finance and Foreign Trade, William Castillo:
