Venezuelan workers denounce in ILO consequence of the US blockade

A delegation of Venezuelan workers headed by the Minister for the Worker, Eduardo Piñate, participated in the 108th Conference of the International Labor Organization (ILO), held in Geneva, Switzerland; where they denounced the consequences of the economic and financial blockade imposed by the government of the United States (USA) against Venezuela:
“Our nation today struggles with courage and intelligence against these actions. Within the framework of this centenary conference, we ratify the world that we will continue to struggle with everything we have at our disposal to defend the future of work, the future of the freedoms of human beings and the future of humanity itself”, said Piñate, quoted in a press release.
During his participation, Piñate said that Venezuela has raised to other international organizations the consequences of the financial blockade, which has generated losses of more than 30,000 million dollars, as well as the difficulty of acquiring medical supplies and food to meet the needs of the people.
In these points coincided the president of the Bolivarian Socialist Workers Central (CBST), Wills Rangel, who stressed that the unilateral and illegal sanctions imposed by the US has generated a commercial boycott:
“Millions of dollars of the Republic are seized in accounts abroad and prohibit us from trading the most basic products. It has generated the loss of jobs and deterioration of wages, putting into play 20 years of conquests of the working class with the Bolivarian Revolution”, denounced Rangel during his participation in the meeting.
In this regard, he warned that from the bosom of the ILO is intended to implement interventionist actions – promoted by the International Organization of Employers (OIE) with the organization of business associations (FEDECAMARAS) – to attempt against the labor conquests achieved by the people, among the which highlight the prenatal and postnatal permission period for women, reduction of working hours to 40 daytime hours, right to two continuous days of rest, inclusion of people with disabilities to work, among others:
“We call the Office not to lend itself to political manipulation directed from the United States of North America”, exhorted the socialist leader.
On the other hand, Rangel urged the members of the organization to work for the construction of a sustainable labor model that can face financial speculation, that encourages the participation of citizens and respects the environment:
“It is urgent to wage a decisive battle at a global level against financial speculation with a broad participation of organized society. For an economy that respects the planet and for the weight of the debt to fall on the big investors and that its restructuring is not done at the expense of the progressive governments of the world”, said the deputy of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC).
