The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, inspected the progress in the construction of the University of Sciences of Venezuela «Dr. Humberto Fernández Morán», in Miranda State:
«Here the University of Sciences of Venezuela «Humberto Fernández Morán» is growing, being born and ready to be inaugurated. Science reaches its highest level in Venezuela with the 7T (Transformations) plan,» explained Maduro.
The university is within the framework of the Great Mission Science, Technology and Innovation, which was born in April. It will have the collaboration of international scientists to strengthen the learning of the new generations. The Dignitary highlighted that a work is being built that will be inaugurated in the month of October 2024, in its academic stage.
For her part, the Vice President for Science, Technology, Education and Health, Gabriela Jiménez, reported that the university will have 15 innovative careers, “whose philosophical definition of the subjects, curricular needs, career profiles, have been defined with the 18 motors of the Bolivarian Economic Agenda, under the pedagogical work of 62% female professionals, dedicated to scientific research in Venezuela.»
The careers that will be taken are: Bachelor’s Degree in Atomic Energy, Oceanology, Biotechnology, Computational Chemistry and Biology, Molecular Chemistry, Atomic Energy, Philosophy, as well as the development of classic careers in the bachelor’s degrees in chemistry, petrochemistry, mathematics and physics.
In the field of engineering, there are the careers of Electromedicine, Engineering in Artificial Intelligence, Engineering in Cybersecurity and Engineering in Nanotechnology, as reported the Minister of People’s Power for Science and Technology.
The infrastructure found in the spaces of the Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research (IVIC), on the Altos de Pipe mountain in Miranda state, was «in its engineering, architectural and landscaping work, designed 50% by Venezuelan women,» he detailed.
The first stage of the University of Sciences «Dr. Humberto Fernández Morán» includes the construction of three buildings. There are about 6,000 square meters of construction. A second phase, stipulates auditoriums, dining hall and urban development.
Jiménez detailed that there are two shifts developed in fifteen academic programs, which means 300 students for each shift.
During this inspection, President Maduro, reflecting that «the twenty-first century is different from all the others because science, technology, research, innovation, mark the development of the entire society (…), it marks everything, truly.» He called on the youth and the Venezuelan people to be attentive in October.
The Head of State also pointed out: «If the independence of the 19th century was political, geopolitical, the independence of the 21st century is scientific, technological, educational, cultural and economic. That is the independence of today.»
