Maduro: Ivan Duque has declared war on his own people

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, reiterated his concern for the serious situation of human rights and repression in Colombia, affirming that the Government of Ivan Duque has charged against its own people:

“The people of Colombia suffers a tragedy, where the government of Ivan Duque has declared war on the humble people, on the Colombian youth”, he said.

He reiterated that Venezuela raises his voice in defense of the Colombian people and urged, both to the Secretary General of the United Nations Organization UN, António Guterres, and the High Commissioner of the UN for the HDH, Michelle Bachelet, to give concrete answers to the massacre against the Colombian people:

“Enough of massacre in Colombia, we say it as brotherly peoples, us who see it from the border, we are brothers from Colombia and we carry it in our hearts as children of Bolívar. I ask the global human rights agencies to do something to protect the life of youth in Colombia”, he said.

A month after multitudinous protests in the neighboring country against the Government of Ivan Duque, organizations such as Temblores account for more than 3,000 cases and victims of police violence, with at least 60 dead, without the National Strike Committee having advanced in reaching agreements with the Government, and so it announces new peaceful mobilizations.
