President Maduro announced prompt arrival of the Sputnik Light and Janssen vaccines to the country

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced the imminent arrival in the country of batches of the Sputnik Light and Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccines, for the immunization of the Venezuelan people.

The national president highlighted that in the range of vaccines available in the country both options have as an advantage that they merit only a single dose.

He assured that these actions promoted by the National Executive are aimed at keeping up the guard against the Covid 19 pandemic.

“We cannot lower our guard, we must achieve a balance between quarantine and flexibility, the best method is 7 + 7,” he emphasized.

In this context, the Head of State instructed to articulate the necessary measures to accelerate the vaccination process against COVID-19 between the months of May, June and July 2021, throughout the national territory.

Instructs to accelerate vaccination in Venezuela:

I aspire that from this month of May we will go to an acceleration and massification of the vaccination; and for the months of June, July and August to be an offensive for the vaccination of Venezuelans”, he emphasized this Tuesday during the relaunching of the Vaccination Week of the Americas – 2021.

He assured that Venezuela estimates to reach the goal of 70% of people vaccinated against COVID-19 in August, an action that will contribute to the control of the pandemic that adds up to 202,162 infections in the country to date.

“The time will come to remove the mask but, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), that moment has not come, nor will it come yet,” he said.

By emphasizing that “Venezuela managed to contain the second wave of infections,” he urged to redouble biosafety protocols and strictly comply with the 7 + 7 scheme in order to avoid any potential rebound in cases in the future.
