President Maduro: “The world is beginning to accept Sputnik-V is the safest vaccine”

This Sunday, the Head of State and Government, Nicolás Maduro Moros asserted that “Already everyone in the world is beginning to accept that Sputnik-V is the best and safest vaccine there is”, alluding to the study published by the The Lancet magazine on the efficacy of the Russian antigen.

This analysis affirms that Sputnik-V, prepared by the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, has an efficacy of 91.6%. In addition, it states that the vaccine was tolerated by volunteers over 18 years of age who participated in clinical studies.

Since the registration of the Sputnik-V vaccine was announced in August 2020, the National Government maintained “contact with Russian scientists, we knew about the progress of trials I, II and III.”

“Sputnik-V is the safest vaccine in the world, it is safe and guarantees a high level of immunization,” he said this Sunday.

Likewise, the President assured that “in Venezuela only the Sputnik-V vaccine is scientifically approved,” after the Ministry of People’s Power for Health (MPPS) authorized its emergency use at the beginning of January.

It should be noted that in December 2020, Russia and Venezuela agreed to acquire 10 million doses of the antigen to start the immunization process during the first half of this year.

On the other hand, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, questioned that “Vaccines are not reaching the countries. They promised 300 million vaccines for Europe and have not delivered even a 20%”. By highlighting that the American and European transnationals have not been able to respond to the demand for vaccination of their peoples.

Finally, he pointed out his rejection of the fact that more than 80% of the world’s nations do not have access to vaccines, since only 10 countries maintain dominance over 95% of the antigens against infectious disease.
