Vice President of the Republic reported 51 new Covid-19 cases in Venezuela

In the last 24 hours, 21 new cases of community-transmitted Covid-19 and 30 imported cases have been detected in the country, which brings the number of cases reported to 1,510 since the first infected was identified in the country last March, as reported the executive vice president. Delcy Rodríguez.

From Miraflores Palace in Caracas, and after concluding the meeting of the Presidential Commission for the Prevention of Covid-19, she specified that, of the 21 new cases, three are due to small outbreaks that were detected through a massive and personalized screening of personnel from Health, security agencies, and border states, all of them have been isolated.

Of the cases this Sunday, the first focus was registered in Bolívar state with four cases, among them: a 38-year-old man from Bolívar state, a medical professional, he is asymptomatic and admitted to an Integral Diagnosis Center (CDI).

The second is a 39-year-old woman from the Angostura Municipality, she is a doctor detected on a screening journney for health personnel, she is asymptomatic and on a CDI. The third case in Bolívar state is a 45-year-old man, a hairdresser with no travel history, and in a molecular test he tested positive, today he is asymptomatic at a CDI.

The fourth case in Bolívar state, a 27-year-old woman from the Gran Sabana municipality, a student, is asymptomatic and confined in a CDI.

In Cojedes state, two cases were counted, a 42-year-old merchant man, who tested positive in a molecular test, who was isolated in a sentinel hospital. The second is a 27-year-old woman from the San Carlos municipality, she works in a social program, has no travel history, is asymptomatic and admitted to a sentinel hospital.

Other small Covid-19 infected focus reported this Sunday occurred in the Delta Amacuro state with four cases: the first is a 34-year-old man, a watchman, the second a 43-year-old woman from the Manuel Piar municipality, the third is a 38-year-old man from that same municipality, and the fourth infected is a 31-year-old man, all isolated in a sentinel center.

Rodríguez indicated that in the Capital District, another small focus of infections occurred, the first a 41-year-old man from Catia, Sucre parish, is a nurse who works in a private clinic and in screenings made permanently to the entire health personnel tested positive in rapid and molecular tests, confined in sentinel hospital.

Another case in DC is a 53-year-old man from the Santa Teresa parish, a worker by profession who tested positive for both tests. He is admitted to a CDI.

The third case in DC occurred in an institution within a telephone central that was subjected to disinfection process, after finding a 26-year-old woman from the San Agustín parish, another 26-year-old operator woman from the Sucre parish, and another 26-year-old woman from the Santa Rosalía parish.

Case number 16 is a 48-year-old man, operator of the telephone central, and a 69-year-old man from the Antímano parish, all admitted to sentinel hospitals.

The 18th infected reported this Sunday, is a 36-year-old man, a security officer who was found with three other officials, 26, 22 and 34 years old respectively, by means of a massive screening test.

In addition, Rodríguez reported that 30 international imported cases were also detected, of which 14 are coming from Colombia; 10 from Brazil and 6 are cases of contact with international travelers from Colombia and Brazil.

“The pandemic moved to South America through Brazil as the epicenter, in Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and neighboring countries of Venezuela, that is why we have the need to remain strict in the sanitary and epidemiological control in the border municipalities”, reiterated Rodríguez.

He added that 75% of contagions are imported, with only 629 cases coming from Colombia and 159 cases from Brazil.

He emphasized that due to these figures, no border municipality is entering a phase of flexibilization, as well as Nueva Esparta state, where the curfew has already been lifted and in the next week the National Government will announce new measures for that region.

He specified that until this Sunday 975,825 tests have been carried out, which represents 32,528 tests per million inhabitants.
