Venezuela confirms 131 new positive coronavirus cases

The Minister for Communication and Information, Jorge Rodríguez, confirmed this Tuesday 131 new positive cases for Covid-19 in the country, bringing to 749 the figures of those infected by the outbreak.

In statements held from Miraflores Palace, Minister Jorge Rodríguez explained that 21 cases are by community transmission, and 110 are imported cases.

He also indicated that 383 cases are asymptomatic, although hospitalized, while 99 have mild symptoms and with 10 unfortunate deaths, Rodríguez also reported that have been detected 110 imported positive cases, of which 81 are comings from Colombia, 23 from Brazil and 6 from Ecuador.

Likewise, he reported that Venezuela has carried out 616,562 tests for the detection of the Covid-19 coronavirus throughout the country, remaining as the country that performs the most screening tests in Latin America. This figure is equivalent to 20,552 tests per million inhabitants.

On the other hand, he indicated that so far have entered the country, through the border with Colombia and Brazil, as well as through the “Vuelta a la Patria” (Return to the Homeland) Plan; 43,089 Venezuelans who decided to return to Venezuela fleeing xenophobia and the health crisis that occurs in several nations in Latin America due to the coronavirus.
