17 new COVID-19 infections are registered in Venezuela

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, reported on Wednesday 17 new cases, reaching 440 COVID-19 infections in the country.

While offering the daily report corresponding to the statistics of the new Coronavirus in Venezuela, the national president explained that these 14 cases are imported from Colombia – repatriated – and 3 of community transmission.

The regional location of the cases detected in the last 24 hours are distributed as follows: Aragua state (7), Lara state (4), Sucre state (3), Trujillo state (1), Delta Amacuro state (1) and La Guaira state (1). It should be noted that with the finding (of a case in) Delta Amacuro state we already have cases in all the entities of the country.

“This is the dramatic report”, emphasized Maduro, “we are raising prevention measures at the border, the focus are Colombia and Brazil, they are the threats to Venezuela”.

In this sense, he instructed governors, mayors, and authorities of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) to take extreme measures to prevent the virus from spreading in Venezuela.
