President Maduro reiterates call for national peace in the face of new assassination plan

Faced with the new assassination plan, planned from Maturín, Monagas state, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, reiterated this Saturday the call to Venezuelans to maintain the peace of the nation.

During his proclamation by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) as a presidential candidate for the elections on July 28, the Head of State revealed the intentions of a group of individuals to assassinate him:

Recently, on Monday, I went to do the “Con Maduro+” program in Maturín, Monagas, and as I was leaving, I received intelligence information that had just been captured an individual who had put in his WhatsApp status: Today will be the final day, Today Maduro dies in Maturín. “He put it in his status,” he reported.

Regarding this new conspiracy against him, the President explained that after arriving in Maturín, security organizations such as the Bolivarian National Police (PNB), the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (SEBIN), the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM), and the organized people managed to capture the terrorist:

We left for Maturín and when we landed they had captured this terrorist who spoke and pointed out a deserter sergeant, a former National Guard, as the man who was preparing an attack, with some hooded motorized and armed men to attack, to attack me as soon as I left the streets of Maturin. The deserter sergeant who spoke and pointed out the terrorist who had pointed out him as the planner of that action and other actions was immediately captured,” he explained.

He reported that after investigations by the authorities it was discovered that the terrorist involved in the murder plans against him belongs to “a now extinct group in Venezuelan politics, the Causa R group.”

After expressing rejection of the defense of the accused, the National President recognized the work of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic, and announced that the investigations have advanced thanks to the evidence, testimonies, captures and elements that prove that “in Maturín it had been forged an attack to assassinate me and that came from the highest levels of the far-right group that conspires with the surnames.”

They are convicted and confessed criminals, and there must be justice in Venezuela,” stressed the President.

Given these acts, the Head of State reiterated the call for peace to celebrate the presidential elections with a popular victory:

I ask you to take care of the peace of the country, to continue winning in peace, with peace and for peace; to take care of me wherever I go, but no one is going to take me off the streets because we are going to the great popular movement of victory on July 28, nothing and no one is going to take victory from our hands. In 2024 we will triumph again on the path of truth, of renewed hope on the path of patriotism,” he concluded.

Last Wednesday, March 13, the Attorney General of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, denounced the new assassination plan against President Nicolás Maduro, an action for which Venezuelan citizens were arrested and are being prosecuted in court.

During a press conference to report this new action, prosecutor Saab reported that there is evidence of a new but continued conspiracy since 2018; and that adds to the attempted assassination with drones, the attempted attack in 2019, the mercenary incursion in 2020 and five other conspiracies registered from May 2023 to the present.
