Venezuela gets in solidarity with India for flood victims

This Monday, the Chancellor of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, sent a message of solidarity to India for the dozens of disappeared and fatalities in the floods registered in the Uttarakhand region.

This was announced today through the Twitter social network by the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Relations, also noting the accompaniment of the South Asian nation for the collapse of a glacier in that northern state and the subsequent overflow of the surrounding river currents.

In this regard, the Chancellor said: «We express solidarity with the families of the deceased and vows for the rescue of survivors,» as stressed Arreaza on the communication platform.

The breakdown of the Nandadevi glacier in the Chamoli area on Sunday caused an avalanche and massive flooding along the Dhauliganga and Alaknanda rivers in the upper part of the Himalayas, in northern India.

The detachment of the frozen mass and the subsequent advance of the waters caused the disappearance of more than 150 construction workers, most of them workers of hydroelectric projects in the Tapovan district.

Groups of disaster response forces and defense personnel participate in rescue operations, while the Indian Air Force deployed several helicopters for rescue work.
