Venezuela and UN develop mechanisms to increase technical capacities in human rights


This week culminated in Caracas a workshop for the creation of national mechanisms to follow up on recommendations emanating from the different Human Rights forums, which was attended by representatives of Venezuelan State institutions and experts from the United Nations (UN).
This was reported by Edgardo Toro, coordinator for the Venezuelan State before the International Human Rights System, during his participation in the “Derechos Humanos en Revolución” (Human Rights in Revolution) program, broadcast on Thursday by the National Radio de Venezuela (RNV) network, referring to the Work Plan that the Venezuelan State develops together with the international organization to increase the technical and institutional capacities of the nation in the matter.
The workshop, which lasted three days, had the technical and experiential support of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, which was sent to a specially designated regional representative to facilitate the experience.
Representatives of Venezuelan State institutions such as the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), the Public Ministry (MP) and the Ombudsman’s Office participated in the activity, in their role as governing bodies in the promotion and protection of human rights, also Representatives of the Public Defense, the Ministry of Internal Relations, Justice and Peace and that of the Indigenous Peoples, among many other entities that cross-cutting the subject, made an appearance.
The agenda to be addressed addressed important issues such as special procedures, the universal periodic review and treaty bodies to improve public policies in the field of Human Rights.
