FANB rejects activation of TIAR as an instrument to militarily intervene in Venezuela

The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) categorically rejects the activation of the Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance (TIAR) against Venezuela by the Organization of American States (OAS) with the intention of using it as an interventionist instrument that attempts against the peace, not only of the nation, but of the Latin American region.
This was stated by the Minister of People’s Power for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, during the reading of a statement issued by his office before the decision of the United States and its allies to use that anachronistic mechanism to justify a military intervention against Venezuela.
From the spaces of the headquarters of the Ministry of People’s Power for Defense and accompanied by the Military High Command, Padrino López said that this type of warmongering actions that are trying to be carried out against Venezuela would have serious consequences of global impact, especially when is intended to carry out within the framework of the signing of agreements of the National Dialogue Board, held on the eve in the country:
“We celebrate and support the effort of President Nicolás Maduro for those calls to dialogue, that is news that should encourage us to optimism, to national dialogue,” said the minister.
The senior military official stressed that the Extended General Staff of the FANB transmits this message to the international community in support of the peace dialogue and in total rejection of threats against the country, which require a deep and constant evaluation by the Bolivarian Government:
“Given these circumstances, the Venezuela Sovereignty and Peace Military Exercises that are carried out in our territory are a constitutional duty within the framework of the strategic concept for the defense of the nation, preparing ourselves to fulfill that task”, he said.
Following, the full text of the communiqué:
“The Bolivarian National Armed Forces categorically rejects spurious and null activation of the Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance (TIAR), by the Organization of American States (OAS) against Venezuela; irrational provocation through which it is intended to legalize a military intervention, whose purpose is to overthrow the legitimate government of citizen Nicolás Maduro Moros, Constitutional president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, our Commander in chief.
TIAR is an anachronistic and fallacious instrument, a subterfuge designed by the US empire to guarantee its own hegemonic interests. However, during the Falklands War in 1982, the United States did not hesitate to betray Argentina and align with the United Kingdom, thus demonstrating the loss of legitimacy and validity of this pact.
Such historical reality, motivated the Supreme Commander Hugo Chavez, to withdraw our country from the aforementioned treaty, in the company of the member states of the Bolivarian Alternative for Latin America and the Caribbean (ALBA).
The unusual decision to describe Venezuela as a threat to hemispheric peace and security, blatantly strips the true destabilizers of the region, who appeal to this interventionist mechanism to escalate their campaign of aggression, which combined with the immoral economic-financial blockade, now shows the use of force in order to reach its infamous ambitions.
It is imperative to highlight that an outcome of this nature would have dire consequences throughout South America, erected in the last decade as a zone of peace, turning it contrary, into a zone of war.
It is very sad and unfortunate, that sectors of the Venezuelan political opposition, acting as mercenaries, openly support this type of measure to the detriment of the nation, claiming the fraudulent reinstatement of this awfulness called TIAR, and endorsing a possible military action, which reveals its moral and ethical baseness, but above all, his total indifference to the true interests of the Venezuelan people.
We are absolutely certain that our society is fully aware to know that we face powerful forces, foreign powers that with some internal support, want to impose the Monroe doctrine, which implies domination, colonial subordination and exploitation. We face these enemies with the Bolivarian ideology, with the principles of freedom, humanism, social justice and equality, and especially with the dignity and nobility that has always characterized us.
Faced with this new imperial onslaught that blatantly violates the principle of self-determination and the elementary norms of international law; The Bolivarian National Armed Forces reiterates its pacifist vocation, but at the same time ratifies with vehemence, its anti-imperialist character and its unwavering resolution to fulfill the sacred oath of honoring and defending the sovereignty and independence of the country, until losing one’s life if necessary”.
