Directors of the El Nacional newspaper apologized through a communiqué to the president of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC) and first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, for the baseless defamatory campaign launched by this newspaper of national circulation against the revolutionary leader.
The apology that was published in several media highlights the following: “We deplore the personal and family damage that has been caused or could have been caused to the citizen Diosdado Cabello Rondón by the content of these publications”, reads part of the statement, where is added: “We totally disagree with these publications and reject them, given that the seriousness of these statements is not accompanied by the verification of their veracity since, more than three years after publication, it has not yet been possible to confirm since no proof has been presented regarding those publications … “.
The statement is made on the occasion of malignant publications and without evidence that was systematically made in the El Nacional newspaper against Diosdado Cabello, with the intention of damaging the image of the PSUV leader. This media campaign of slander and unfounded accusations was promoted by Miguel Henrique Otero, owner of the printed media who currently resides in Spain.
