Ombudsman urged organized communities to create the figure of the Community Ombudsman

After participating in the training and discussion space “Thursday of Ideas, Knowledge and Doings of the People”, an activity organized by the groups and collectives of the La Vega parish, in Caracas, the Ombudsman, Alfredo Ruiz, urged the attendees to organize and create the figure of the Community Ombudsman.

According to Ruiz, this figure must be born from the popular organization, and will allow the community to identify, prevent and denounce any violation of human rights in matters of services such as transportation, water, police action and citizen security, among others.

After hearing various proposals and requests from groups and organized collectives, the Ombudsman reminded them that the institution he presides will continue to provide legal assistance to this community in the La Vega Main Register, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week, in addition of the work of accompaniment in any situation of mediation, which merits the intervention of the Ombudsman in favor of this populous parish.

The activity was organized by activists Freddy González and Rubén Villasana, from Coordinadora La Vega, and it was held in the auditorium of the Alí Gómez García Theater, located on the boulevard of that renowned parish in Caracas.
