This Sunday has died Anibal Chavez, mayor of the Alberto Arvelo Torrealba municipality in Barinas state, and brother of Commander Hugo Chavez. The information was confirmed by a statement from the National Government, read by the Minister for Communication and Information, Luis José Marcano.

The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela, regrets to announce the death of compatriot Anibal Jose Chavez Frías, brother of our Supreme Commander Hugo Chavez, who was currently serving as mayor of Sabaneta de Barinas in the Alberto Arvelo Torrealba municipality in Barinas state
The Bolivarian Revolution, recognizes in Aníbal Chavez an illustrious fighter, a man of the people at the service of the noble causes and who knew to vindicate with his work the ideals of the father of the Homeland, Simon Bolivar, and of our Supreme Commander Hugo Chavez.
We express to all the families of our comrade Anibal Chavez, our deep pain and sorrow, to the teacher Hugo de los Reyes Chávez, to our beloved mother, Doña Elena Frias, and to all the people of Sabaneta de Barinas, we accompany you in these times and difficult circumstances .
Rest in Peace, brother and comrade Aníbal, we will continue on this fight, which is your fight, for the Good Homeland!
