COVID: Venezuela registers 689 community, 98 imported and 56,726 recovered cases

A total of 787 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the last 24 hours by the Venezuelan health authorities, of which 689 are of community transmission and 98 cases of border transmission.

These figures raise – up to date – the total number of patients who have tested positive for this infection to 67,443, of which 56,726 patients have recovered (84%), and thus Venezuela has a recovery percentage above the active cases of contagion of coronavirus.

The information was released on Monday by the Minister of People’s Power for Communication and Information, Freddy Ñáñez, through a series of publications on his account on the Twittersocial network@luchaalmada, after the daily meeting of the Presidential Commission for the Control and Prevention of COVID-19.

In some of his interactions, he specified that 10,162 cases are active in Venezuela, of which 9,750 are being treated in the National Public Health System and 412 in private clinics.

He highlighted that the National Government, unlike other nations, has applied 1,909,796 totally free tests, which represents 64,327 tests per million inhabitants.

Community cases:

He pointed out that of the community cases 152 belong to Nueva Esparta state, 140 cases to the Capital District, 53 to Mérida state, among others.

The cases registered in Nueva Esparta occur in the following municipalities: 27 in Mariño, 21 in Maneiro, 18 in Tubores, 15 in Díaz, 13 in Marcano, 13 in García, 12 in Antolín del Campo, 12 in Gómez, 10 in Arismendi, 10 in the Macanao Peninsula and 1 resident in the Capital District, captured in this entity.

Regarding the 98 cases of border transmission, he indicated that all are coming from Colombia, which entered through the border crossings in the states of Táchira and Apure. Of these infections, 51 are men and 47 are women.

On the other hand, he regretted reporting the death of eight people due to the COVID-19 infection in the last hours, raising the number of fatalities to 555. The deaths were:

2 women of 83 and 66 years respectively, in Aragua state

2 men of 48 and 68 years respectively in Zulia

1 74-year-old man and 1 66-year-old woman in Apure

1 72-year-old woman in Lara

1 48-year-old woman in Sucre.

Minister Ñáñez urged the people not to lower their guard regarding the use of masks and healthy distancing, since they are two guarantees of life.
