The Bolivarian Government will set prices for the main items of the basic basket this week

The Vice President for the economic area, Tareck El Aissami, after the meeting with governors and mayors of the country held in Miraflores Palace, informed that from Wednesday, June 27 until Friday, June 29, an extraordinary meeting will be held with all the productive sectors and chains of distribution of the country, with the aim of sincere prices of the main items of the national basic basket framed in the “Plan 50”, which will be published to empower the people in the fight against economic war.

“On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, we will be celebrating a great day with all the productive sectors, chains, distribution sectors and the entire commercialization sector of the main items of Plan 50 so that we establish and sincere the costs structure (…) we are not going to accept the manipulation of the basic items of the people. Once we publish the prices, to any marketing or distribution system that violates the agreed prices, we will apply the full weight of the law. We are not going to accept that the war against our people continues to be decreed”, he said.

El Aissami added that once the new price structure is set, it will initiate a process of supervision in the main establishments, ensuring compliance with the measure. He said the goal is to enforce the law in 97 markets nationwide: “Last week we made the decision to intervene 29 wholesale and municipal markets with the aim of restoring order so that the people can buy the products at fair prices”.

He denounced that after the recent salary increase decreed by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, the large distribution and marketing chains increased prices in a matter of hours to intensify the war against the people:

“After the increase, prices went up criminally, they modified the prices of products that were on shelves; it is the inclement war of these sectors, we are obliged to open the cost structure (…) this week we will be agreeing prices to start a price offensive”, he said.

He reiterated that the Bolivarian Government will continue with the social protection system for Venezuelans through the “Carnet de la Patria” (Homeland Card) system and the CLAP (Local Supply and Production committees), guaranteeing its fair distribution in more than 6 million families benefited by this program.
