The Chancellor of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, held a meeting on Wednesday in Brussels with the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, which allowed to elucidate the invulnerability of democratic institutions in the South American country.
The meeting dealt with various political and economic issues in Venezuela, including the elections that will be held on May 20 and the damages that stem from the blockade of international financial transactions.
In this regard, the Chancellor not only rejected the aggressions of the EU but also urged the coalition to maintain relations of respect and cooperation; He also denounced the coercive measures that the Government of the United States and EU countries have imposed unilaterally against the Bolivarian Republic, which, together with the aggression against the currency, severely damages the national economy.
“If there were not a brutal aggression against Venezuela as there is from the Governments of other countries in the international financial system, an aggression by the bourgeoisie to overthrow President Maduro, the shortages they generate, induced speculation; if there was not that circumstance, the economic situation would be different”, said the diplomat during a press conference at the end of the meeting with the High Representative of the European bloc.
Electoral guarantees:
In his meeting with the media, the Foreign Minister remarked the guarantees offered by the Venezuelan electoral system in each electoral process at the technical level, of audits (held previously, during and afterwards); of regulations and electoral accompaniment.
“The only one who has to recognize the electoral results in Venezuela is the Venezuelan people and the CNE (National Electoral Council); we are not interested on whether (Donald) Trump acknowledges them, if (Mariano) Rajoy acknowledges them, if the EU disowns them; they would be going beyond their faculties, venturing into new areas of political aggression against Venezuela”, said the diplomat, referring to the statements that various Governments around the world have made about the upcoming electoral process in Venezuela.
At the same time, he denounced again the incessant campaign maintained by media corporations against the South American country: “An integral media war against Venezuela. Venezuela is not perfect, we have problems like all the countries in the world socially, politically, economically (…) Venezuela is a country subject to an integral multiform attack and if this were not the case, the national circumstance will be very different”, he added.
