The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, stressed through a communiqué that this Thursday, January 9, “was tried to develop a disastrous psychological operation to unleash acts of violence at a time when the country is preparing for the inauguration of the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, in the 2025-2031 term.»
He stressed that «this new simulation has been automatically joined by the leaders of the extreme right wing in various parts of the world, which indicates premeditation and coordination at an international level in such a sinister action. However, they have made a fool of themselves again by spreading a new infamy. With this staging, they have tried to sow chaos and violence in the Nation, as well as to divert attention from the resounding failure that was today’s call for this minority radical sector.»
Likewise, he maintained that «with this they have sought to stain (without achieving it) a day of joy for the Venezuelan people, such as tomorrow, January 10, which they have not achieved and will never achieve. The institutions of the State, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces and the people of Venezuela are committed to peace until achieving great victories day by day to fulfill the destiny of glory that our liberators entrusted us to achieve.»
On the other hand, he indicated that María Corina Machado is subject to a criminal investigation for actions committed after the presidential elections of July 28, for the crimes of treason, conspiracy with foreign countries and association to commit crimes. Consequently, if an arrest warrant were to be issued during the course of these investigations, it would be subject to the guarantees provided for in the Venezuelan legal system.
