The Chancellor of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, said on Tuesday that the latest actions of the government of the United States (US) show that the “only and true” target of the “coup plotting” maneuver promoted in Venezuela is “to take over the Venezuelan crude oil”.
This was noted in his official account on the Twitter social network. As will be recalled, on Monday the US Treasury Department announced the imposition of new sanctions against PDVSA, which includes the freezing of 7,000 million dollars and the blocking of payments made by US companies for the purchase of national oil.
For this reason, President Nicolás Maduro ordered the president of PDVSA, Manuel Quevedo, to defend the interests of the company in the US courts, as well as accelerating the political and legal actions to assert its assets and Venezuela as the sole owner.
