Venezuela held meeting with social movements in New York

A meeting with social movements in New York City, the United States, closed the work Journey held on Thursday by the Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza, who is in that country on the occasion of the 72nd General Assembly of the Organization of the Nations United.

The event was held at the Santa Cruz Church, located in the Washington Heights neighborhood, where the representatives and spokespersons of the various American social movements who expressed their solidarity with Venezuela, a nation that has become the target of an attack by the United States Government, led by President Donald Trump.

There, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister asserted that the people of Venezuela will give all the necessary battles to shield the peace, before the imperialist plans of the world imperialism that seeks to end the Bolivarian Revolution.

Another of the activities that marked the agenda of this Thursday was a bilateral meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, and ratified the ties of friendship and solidarity between the two countries, and bilateral issues of cooperation in the political, economic and social area, since these nations have alliances in financial, agricultural, health, science, technology, infrastructure and energy.

At that meeting, Lavrov dismissed as inadmissible the threats against Venezuela. «It is unacceptable to instigate riots and launch threats of military intervention in order to democratize Venezuela, as are actions aimed at undermining the legitimate authorities of any country», he said.

On the other hand, Chancellor Arreaza met with his Algerian counterpart, Abdelkader Messahel; from Jamaica, Kamina Johnson Smith; of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei; of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez; of Chile, Heraldo Muñoz, and of Ecuador, María Fernanda Espinoza, with whom he discussed topics on the promotion of dialogue in the region.

He also talked about world peace with Sudan’s foreign minister, Ibrahim Ghandour, and with the executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, Alicia Bárcena, with whom he discussed Agenda 2030 issues for sustainable development.

Likewise, Chancellor Arreaza spoke with Yemeni presidents Abd Rabbuh Mansur Al-Hadi and Lebanon, Michel Aoun, following his speech at the 72nd session of the United Nations, where he also shared with the president of Salvador, Salvador Sánchez Cerén.
