Venezuela defends itself against a biased international vision of reality

The Deputy Minister for Internal Policy and Legal Security, Suzany González, said that the Venezuelan State has had to face a biased international vision of the reality that happens in the country and that it wants to make strong the idea of that human rights are violated here.

“Our Government has demonstrated its unrestricted commitment to social peace and faithful fulfillment of human rights. For this, there are two programs that articulate and work together with Government agencies and the organized People’s Power, such as the Great Mission Full Life Venezuela and the Great Mission Socialist Justice”, said Deputy Minister Gonzalez at the 165th session of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) held in Montevideo, Uruguay, where was addressed the subject on violence and freedom of expression in Venezuela.

She explained that since the unleashing of the “guarimbas” (street riots) in the country, the information has been misrepresented to make believe that in Venezuela the human rights, freedom of expression and peaceful demonstration are not respected: “The spiral of violence over four months, aimed at perpetrating a coup d’ etat, generated 9,435 street actions, 62.2% of which were violent, leaving a lamentable balance of 124 deaths and 1,455 injured people, of which 71.27% correspond to police and military officials”.

“These actions of violence, which do not qualify in the exercise of the right to free protest, also included destruction of infrastructures, arbitrary closures of public roads, lynching of persons, use of children in violent acts and siege of public and private institutions”, said the Deputy Minister Gonzalez.

She recalled that the call made by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has been to guarantee Human Rights, and complying with this “Are being put to the orders of justice all officials who have engaged in police malpractice . While crime levels continue to be a challenge for the Government, through state-sponsored social programs and the organized People’s Power, prevention activities and the culture of peace have been fostered, including the schools and High schools that are within the Quadrants of Peace of the whole country”.

Deputy Minister Gonzalez added that in addition, the National Government is a guarantor in the supervision and constant training of officials of various citizen security agencies. “We have the National Experimental University of Security (Unes), created in 2009, and which has already promoted 150,000 professionals in different areas (police, investigation, fire management). In addition, our authorities are constantly evaluating the various security forces.

The Executive Secretary of the General Council of Police, Pablo Fernández, and the Executive Secretary of the National Council of Human Rights, Larry Devoe, were also present with the Deputy Minister of Interior Policy.
