Study: State must play a fundamental role in conducting the economy

The latest opinion polls raised by the Hinterlaces polling company reveal a consensus regarding the features of the new productive economic model demanded by the population, as said Oscar Schémel, president of the pollster and constituent, on Wednesday.

Venezuelans support a mixed economic model where different forms of ownership coexist: State-owned, private, and communal; In addition they are inclined towards a diversified productive economic model.

The majority of those consulted, he continued, support private investment as part of the revaluation of the private sector, which has made Venezuelans see the business sector as part of the solution to the crisis. “They agree that the State promotes private national and international investment.”

One important point to make, the interviewee suggests, is that the majority of respondents believe that the State should play a fundamental role in conducting the economy.

Schémel, during an interview in the “Encendidos” (Turned On) program, broadcast by VTV, said that: “81 percent of the population is more concerned about the economy than politics … Venezuelans are demanding answers and solutions, they are not looking for guilty parties.”
