The first Vice President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, said on Wednesday that the Venezuelan right wing “is defeated in the political, electoral and military fields” and noted that the only way they have to stay in force is to cause deaths.
During his weekly program “Con el Mazo Dando” (Hitting with the Hammer), held at the Theater of the Circulo Militar (Military Circle), Cabello repudiated the silence of the rightwing to the lynching of Venezuelans in the midst of violent demonstrations. He also said that on June 19 they were to fill the territory of blood, so that the Organization of American States could justify an intervention.
“Who plays that? The traitors to the Homeland. (…) They creep, they do whatever they are told to do for a visa, whatever they tell them. We have raised for the National Constituent Assembly that there can be no power anywhere, whatever it may be called, that has any interference capacity in Venezuela. The Homeland of Bolívar and Chávez is to be respected, Venezuela is free, sovereign and independent, for now and forever”, he said.
Cabello dismissed the possibility that the opposition leadership could activate article 350 of the Constitution: “I will tell you something, gentlemen, and this, of course, is not a threat, it is only in order to refresh your memory; This Constitution entered into force in 1999, the only time this article 350 was activated, it was activated by the people; Do you know when? On April 11, 12 and 13, 2002, in order to bring back Commander Hugo Chavez into power. You are not the people, you may be anything, but the people”, he said.
He stressed that, despite the attacks, violence and the lashes by the opposition, the people of Venezuela has remained calm.
