The Secretary General of the PSUV, Diosdado Cabello, reported that the Bolivarian Government has guaranteed the release from prison of 896 citizens in order to facilitate democratic reconciliation and give them the opportunity to reintegrate into the political sphere, provided they do not reoffend in hate crimes or incitement to violence:
“Since last October, President Maduro ordered the review of the cases of those persons who were detained for having committed crimes. On December 24th and 31st, while some were celebrating, the justice system was working so that those arrested could share a moment of joy with their respective families”, commented Cabello during the weekly press conference of the red party.
He added that there was no spreading of the initiative to reunite these citizens with their families during the holiday season, as they did not want to make any propaganda out of it.
“Because that’s not the idea, because we’re not doing this for propaganda, the Christmas gathering went ahead without any problems,” stated Cabello.
Diosdado Cabello analyzes the recent revocation of pardon to Guanipa:
Cabello explained that, despite the criminal and interventionist attacks by U.S. imperialism against the national territory in the early hours of January 3, the acting president of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, maintained intact the proposal pf President Nicolás Maduro to promote dialogue, respect, and reconciliation through these releases, which objective is intensified by the upcoming Amnesty Law.
Initially it had ben guaranteed the release of 897 citizens; however, the Attorney General’s Office recently revoked the pardon to Juan Pablo Guanipa after he failed to comply with the conditions of his release:
“Nothing had happened; they went out, they met up with their families, until the enlightened stupidity of some politicians led them to believe they could do whatever they wanted and create chaos in the country, violating the very conditions under which they were being granted their freedom. So now it’s not 897, but 896, because one person was arrested again for violating the conditions on which he was released after making his call to take the streets. This country wants peace; it is an opportunity that’s being given to them,” highlighted Cabello.
