National Government announces process of release from prison for a group of Venezuelans and foreigners

The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, announced that the Bolivarian Government has decided to begin the process of releasing from prison a significant number of Venezuelan and foreign citizens.

During a live broadcast on state-owned TV station VTV, Rodríguez indicated that this measure is a result of the joint work of the National Council for the Sovereignty and Peace of Venezuela together with State institutions, as a unilateral gesture aimed at consolidating peace in the Republic and to strengthen the national unity:

“All of us are Venezuelan men and women, and we are sheltered under the same sky, we embrace the same flag, and we sing the same national anthem, and for the sake of the efforts we must all make for national unity and peaceful coexistence, the Bolivarian Government and public institutions have decided to release from prison a large number of Venezuelan and foreign persons, and this release process is happening from this very moment,” he assured.

He high-praised those “who have always stood with the people of Venezuela in the defense of our fundamental rights: a full life, self-determination, independence, and peace.”

He especially acknowledged former Spanish President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, who for more than ten years has put his abilities to the service of national coexistence; the president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio “Lula” Da Silva; the government of the Kingdom of Qatar; and, in particular, the State institutions that responded promptly to the call of the Bolivarian Government headed by the acting president, Delcy Rodríguez.
