This Thursday, February 5, the National Assembly (AN) approved in its first discussion the draft of the Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence, promoted by the acting President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez.
Deputy Jorge Arreaza was in charge of presenting this first debate on the bill, thus complying with what is foreseen in Article 104 of the Internal Regulations and Rules of Debate of the National Assembly.
According to what the acting president stated on January 30, during the opening of the Judicial Activities for the year 2026, the intention of this legal instrument is to pave the way for reconciliation with all political sectors active in the country.
She also indicated that this initiative does not apply to citizens with serious criminal records, such as homicide, drug trafficking, corruption, and other “serious human rights violations.”
